The Power of Kindness: Celebrating Our Community of Support

At Ridgeway Rise, kindness is more than just a word—it’s a way of life. This month, we had the joy of celebrating Kindness Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognising the generosity of those who have supported us throughout the year. From businesses that donated gifts and raffle prizes to organisations and individuals who have gone above and beyond for our residents and team, this was our opportunity to give back and say thank you.

Honouring Our Supporters with Appreciation Plaques

Throughout the year, we have been truly touched by the kindness of our community. Many local businesses and individuals have donated raffle prizes, provided vouchers to reward our hardworking team, and helped us organise memorable events for our residents. Each act of generosity, no matter how big or small, has made a real difference in the lives of those we care for.

To show our appreciation, we proudly presented special plaques to those who have supported us. These plaques symbolise our gratitude and the strong bonds we have built within our local community. We personally visited each business and individual to present their plaque, and it was heartwarming to see them displayed with pride in their shops, offices, and homes. The smiles and warm conversations we shared reminded us why we love our community so much.

Some of the wonderful businesses and individuals we recognised included Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Sally Pussey’s Inn, the Rapid Relief Team, Co-op Highdown Way, Studley Grange Garden Centre, John the Flower Man, Blackwells Funeral Directors, the Tawny Owl Pub, Happy Cod Taw Hill, Gorgeous Hair Salon and Fenton and Grace the therapy dogs (along with their mum Sharon). Their generosity has been invaluable, and we are so grateful for their continued support.

A Special Visit from the Rapid Relief Team

This year, Kindness Day became even more meaningful thanks to a surprise visit from the Rapid Relief Team (RRT). They wanted to express their gratitude for the care we’ve provided to one of their relatives so they arrived with a tent, a barbecue, and a mission to spread kindness in return. They treated our entire team to a delicious meal of burgers and refreshments which was a wonderful gesture that made everyone feel appreciated, and it reinforced the idea that kindness truly does go full circle.

As we enjoyed the food and conversations, it became clear that kindness isn’t just about giving—it’s also about receiving. The generosity of the RRT reminded us that the care and compassion we extend to others often come back to us in unexpected and heartwarming ways. Their visit was a true highlight of the day, reinforcing the spirit of community that we cherish.

It was a privilege to take this opportunity to show our gratitude and to reflect on the incredible generosity that makes our home so special.
